Memoir: SLCC Vocation Jamboree

together with the PF's during the registration

October 29-30, 2010, our school conducted its 5th year of having the Mission Camp or the Vocation Jamboree. This year, participants reached 400. Compared to last year's 200 participants, we can conclude that the number of participants attending this event is increasing and so we need more:)
It was a NO SLEEP event for all of us especially to the participants for they were told that if they would sleep "naay lubot sa kha ahy, itom kaayu" which threatened them from sleeping. But still, even if consequences were given to those who would sleep, many layed down to their mats and tried closing their eyes which also caught the PF's attention leading them to having color-black faces. Indeed t`was fun especially that consequence part. Haha !
The event started with the registration followed by brad Varlee's house rules, tatay Ramboy's speech and Ms. Rabaya's introduction of the nights speakers: Ms. Bering, Bro. Marshou, Fr. Francis and Kevin . After each's speech, Q & A's from the participants followed.
Before everyone got bored and felt sleepy, Sr. Manto together with his angels tried to energize the participants to wake them up and to keep them out of sleepiness. Truly it was an icebreaker. A 15min. break was given by brad Varlee and the filmshowing follwed. Simon Bertch was one inspiring movie and a little.. boring.. the very reason why students attending the jamboree slept their eyes down. PF's came running around as they try to put charcoal on every participant who lies down to their mats and tries to keep themselves awake by running around.
Everybody had their faces dirty including Virgil who slept a little. Haha !

The main event, the praying of the rosary which includes all 4mysteries. I was assigned to the last group who left the gym. It was my first time joining such for last year, we were only asked to guard the corners of the building. And so it was tiresome but worth it for it was a success.
The bonfire and the burning of papers which brad had prepared..symbolizes that our regrets are being burnt and being sent to heaven. The Holy Eucharistic and the painit followed after.
It was a night full of experiences for I have made new friends, had time to bond with my co-PF's and spent the time praying.
I just hope that even if we already graduated, the school will still be conduncting events such as this so that many would be interested also. :)
thanks SLSM for the fun ^^
