Suroy- suroy: Dalaguete, Cebu (Osmena Peak 2.0)

Second stop: OSMENA PEAK
I can still remember my first trip to Osmena Peak. It was wet, cold, and very dangerous! Bam also had the same experience that is why we both decided to visit Osmena Peak for the second time.
After we ate our lunch at the Dalaguete Beach Park and also had a little swimming session, we then decided to head on to the highlight of the trip. Since we were still in Casay, we had to ride another vehicle to take us to Poblacion where the motorcycles going to Mantalongon park. We could either ride a bus or a tricycle that costs 10-15Php. For us, we took a tricycle since the driver was really kind to offer us his help.

FYI!!!
If you want to go to Osmena Peak, from the South Bus Terminal, ride a bus with the sign Oslob/ Boljoon or Alcoy/ Dalaguete. Eitherway will drop you off to where motorcycles going to Mantalongon (Osmena Peak) park. Just tell the bus kundoktor that you're going to Osmena Peak.
The picture above shows you the drop- off point. Bus fare costs 80-90Php (just bring your student's ID to get a discount)
The most exciting part was the motorcycle ride itself. The ride alone will show you scenic views of Dalaguete. Although it will give you a heart- pumping, nerve- wrecking experience, it will all be worth it. Manoy Richie was friendly enough to have a little chat with us and shared us his experience as a motorcycle driver.

The motorcycle fare costs 100Php each person and that is a fixed rate. Travel time takes 30-45minutes but it will be fun! The picture posted above is the drop- off point at the foot of the mountain. By the time we arrived, a kid with a log book approached us and asked us to write our names and contact numbers. It's a must! This is to let the locals know that you went there and it's for our own safety. The hike here will be faster compared to the other drop- off points.

But it won't be easy especially if the path is slippery and muddy. I suggest to wear hiking shoes or just rubber shoes to prevent our feet from blisters and wounds. Kids will be waiting from the drop- off point to ask if you need their assistance. These kids know the area so well that they can trek at night. For us, we had Rey. He volunteered to carry our extra luggage like our tents. The trek will only take 30 minutes or more depending on the pace. Our team got a little excited that's why we climbed as fast as we could.
Mantalongon is dubbed as the "Vegetable Basket of Cebu". Look at all those cabbages! They have a lot of cabbage plantations here. Other vegetables can be found along the way too!
When we reached the camping site, we immediately set up our tents. Good thing we had Rey, he showed us a really good spot for our tents. There were already a lot of people at the peak when we arrived which made us really excited to go see it for ourselves.

Our camp site is located at the upper part.

We took a lot of pictures when we were at the top! The skies were getting darker already that's why we decided to go back to our camp site. We also needed to prepare for dinner. The night was young and it was already getting a little foggy. Water is very important! We almost ran out of water because of cooking and drinking but we didn't worry for there were locals specifically kids who went to our site and asked us if we needed something. For 50Php we were able to get water and tipped the kid as well. We prepared drinks and games to get us through the night and it was surprisingly fun! We saw the skies turn from pitch- black to a magical scene. There were too many stars compared to the city. It was indeed beautiful!
Thank God it didn't rain but the night is as cold as it could get. Our tents weren't enough to protect us from the moisture and the coldness. I prepared a tarpaulin and used it as a layer for our flooring. I suggest to bring one as well. Bring thick jackets and blankets if you're not used to being in the cold.
I woke up the next morning with a foggy scene.
Before I forget, Bam and I are celebrating our 20th monthsary together! Also, we didn't have much pictures taken together so I asked my brother to take pictures of us. Here are some of the pictures:)

For our monthsaries, we make it to a point that we celebrate it as special as we could. This time, we brought our love here at the top of Osmena Peak!

After eating breakfast: Noodles, cup noodles, coffee and bread, we contacted Manoy Richie and started packing our things. He was there 20 minutes before we finished wrapping up! For some campers, they continue to trek to Kawasan Falls but we didn't do it since we've been there. We also had something else in our itinerary. Next stop and final, Obong Spring!
